A Feel for Fashion: NLE Choppa

Interviews

Rapper and personality NLE Choppa, born Bryson Potts, is a sartorial obsessive. This season marked his first-ever Paris Fashion Week, which included Amiri, Kidsuper, Bluemarble, Junya Watanabe among others. And while details remain under wraps, he is rumoured to be working on his own line. Born in Memphis Tennessee, NLE Choppa has seven Platinum singles, 13 Billboard Hot 100 entries and counts over seven billion streams — the guy is popular. His profile soared higher last year when he appeared on the rapper Yung Miami’s talk show, Caresha Please, and declared his allyship and love for his LGTBQ+ fans (this kind of public declaration remains uncommon in the industry). Now that he has experienced the shows, NLE Choppa shares his Feel For Fashion.

Where do you look for new ideas, inspirations or voices in fashion?

I look for inspiration in anything. The rain. Other people’s clothes. Architecture from the different countries I visit. I’m inspired daily.

What surprises you about fashion in 2025?

I’m surprised by how style continues to repeat itself yet evolve at the same time. I want to constantly evolve in my fashion, and be open to new ideas and concepts.

Who or what is generating the greatest influence in fashion today?

I’m influenced by Ye. He is creative in music and fashion. Both collide for him.

What defines men’s elegance in a contemporary context?

Confidence defines elegance in a man. And a confident man is a powerful man.

What is your favourite way to compliment someone’s style?

No matter who it is, if they well dressed, I say, “they got that shit on.”
