Lookbook shot by Aart Verrips / Creative Direction by Chloe Andrea

Based in Johannesburg, South Africa, Thebe Magugu is a creative fashion brand exploring Africa’s storied past, complex present and exciting imagined futures, providing smart, multifaceted clothes that mirror the inspiring qualities of the people they are made for. While launching its e-store, Thebe Magugu adds menswear looks in its product range. “This mens capsule is quite special because it directly takes cues from my own wardrobe, which is quite solutions driven and I hope other men (and women) find it does the same for them.” explains the 2019 LVMH-Prize winner. The capsule pulls from both Thebe Magugu’s sisterhood emblem and collegiate sports-staple references, which appear in pieces like the wine and white sisterhood golfer or the midnight navy Deep V-Neck Sweater Set. The collection includes also two statement pieces: the Basotho Poncho inspired by the Sotho blanket of the people in the Kingdom of Lesotho and a Corrugated Iron Parka in a pinstripe print.

As for his previous collections, the designer dialogs with other creatives for translating his view into images. The lookbook campaign for men, shot by Aart Verrips and Creative Directed by Chloe Andrea, play on these sports teams the collection draws from, documented and beautiful black and white portraiture.
