As the world moves ahead, what is your take on fashion’s role in contributing to positive change?
I’m really moved by—and given optimism for – fashion’s role in contributing to positive change the more I learn of the incredible creativity of designers and innovators who are consciously trying to use less of the planet’s finite resources. They’re figuring out ways of making beautiful, desirable things, whether by upcycling what already exists; working with new biodegradable textiles; or producing in very transparent and conscious ways. I’m also cheered by a true opening up of the definition of ‘model’ on the catwalks, campaigns and brand content; I feel this will resonate more globally.
What is one trend or article of clothing that will define the coming year?
Why can’t we figure out wearable tech yet? Jackets that self-regulate heat or cool. T-shirts that really wick away sweat. Heels that modulate height and comfort based on your pace. There’s always hope.
What is something you’d love to see in fashion’s future — even if it remains a fantasy?
