20th Rencontres Internationales de la Mode

Focus

The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode has been a partner of the Hyères Festival since 2003. Every year, it organises the “Rencontres Internationales de la Mode”, with the support of LE DEFI, in order to discuss current issues and compare the points of view of experts.

The aim of the Rencontres Internationales de la Mode is to bring together professionals, designers and institutions to discuss and debate current issues. In 2021, the themes of the debates were sustainable development, the duality between physical and digital and their impact on sustainable fashion, and the new challenges of fashion in Europe, particularly the Franco-Italian relationship.

Sustainable development: limit or creative opportunity?

Sustainable development, whether it be through environmental or social and societal issues, is at the heart of fashion’s concerns today. How can we reconcile the creative impetus of the sector’s major players with ecological imperatives? Does sustainable development create limits or does it bring opportunities for creation and fashion?

Physical or digital: what future for sustainable fashion?

The new challenges of fashion in Europe: issues and perspectives

The fashion industry is facing rapid change across its entire value chain, as well as in customers and markets worldwide. Europe benefits from an exceptional breeding ground for creation and fashion, but it must adapt and develop further in the face of these new challenges. The Franco-Italian relationship, in particular between the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode and the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, plays a central role in meeting these challenges.
