Hermès, The drawing of time
Inhabiting time. Véronique Nichanian, Artistic Director of Menswear at Hermès, explores materials and lines, a reality sublimated by textures, a vision, a palette – from brown to plum, pebbles to red chalk – that imbues these mannequins with a distinctive ease. The walls of the Palais d'Iéna suddenly seemed to open up and everything is alive and breathing. Through these deer leather overshirts and ribbed jackets, this mohair teddy coat, it’s as though time itself is rounding off alongside these shapes designed to resist the cold with elegance.
Parkas in water-repellent brushed twill lined with a removable plaid, cashmere jumpers you'd like to roll around in... the dream! And it's the contrast between the curves of the balaclavas, the sweatshirts and the outfit – of the trousers in gabardine and stretch cotton drill, of the coats whose collar extends from the lapel – that creates an allure that's intuitively right, a tailoring tempered with romanticism.
Véronique Nichanian assures us that “style never compromises function.” This millimetre-perfect comfort is echoed in a restrained graphic style, with straight coats and magnificent double-breasted velvet suits, adding an urban, dandy touch to this beautiful escape. Like a line on the blank page of 2025: the year of design at Hermès.
