Sotheby’s is auctioning a private collection archive of clothing Maison Margiela that spans almost 20 years.
The collection, titled “Hors Normes II”, covers the period from 1989 to 2006 and includes about 200 items of clothing. Notable pieces include a look from Martin Margiela’s trompe l’oeil show for Spring-Summer 1996; a plastic bag dress from the Maison’s Fall-Winter 1998 collection; and one of Margiela’s famous duvet coats from the Fall-Winter 1999 season, which is considered among the most valuable lots of the auction with an estimated price of 4,000 euros. The auction will also feature complete runway images from the 2004 Maison Margiela show.
