The Timeless Style of Alexandre Blanc

Focus

Alexandre Blanc studied Fashion and Design at the Duperré School and at the Institut Français de la Mode. He has spent nearly 10 years working with the most influential creative directors of their generation. In 2018, he founded his eponymous brand and has been attracting attention ever since with his refined approach. The precision of his cuts, the subtlety of the selected materials and the studied details make his French-style wardrobe a singular proposition. Alexandre Blanc conceives fashion as an applied art. His collections are accompanied by a series of accessories inspired by a rich pictorial universe and colourful design. Alexandre Blanc has joined SPHERE Paris Fashion Week Showroom in 2020.

How would you describe your new Fall-Winter 2021 collection?

The Autumn-Winter 2021 collection is sensual, chic and timeless. It reminds of the bourgeois dressing room with brighter and more unexpected details, such as this straw-yellow shantung skirt that looks very modest but exposes the hip when walking. The buttons adorn collars, a classic blouse was reinvented by the cut-outs in the neckline, and a trench coat, with a more ‘sewn’ volume, can be worn both as a dress and a cape, as well as a black wool coat.
On two of the dresses, you can see a halftone print that I drew with watercolours and Chinese ink, reminiscent of the Parc Monceau and the ornaments of its lattices. It plays on the contrast with the second print of the collection, a pattern of large white polka dots on a brown background.

Which look or piece best captures the spirit of the season?

A black crepe de chine blouse, worn with carrot trousers and a belt decorated with a buckle designed with the house of Goossens.

Did you want to convey a message with this collection?

This season I wanted to make a сurated collection designed exclusively in a Paris workshop. I tried to rework the themes close to me but also get as far as possible in the quality of the cuts and the choice of materials to define a clear and very identifiable silhouette. Even though the motifs were very elaborate, I didn’t want them to take too much advantage of the silhouette, so as not to blur the message and maintain this very French and slightly cinematic side, which I particularly love.
I want to show my attention to detail with this collection. I’d wager a return to the dressing up, putting on your Sunday best would be a sign of rebellion in response to the tracksuits we all wearing now.
