Mansour Martin Pool Party

Focus

In 2019, Mansour Badjoko and Martin Liesnard combined their artistic expertise and launched Mansour Martin. The Belgian designers offer a multitude of sustainable innovations, discovered during a tour of Europe. A sustainable and respectful fashion that explores the diversity of the genres, for both men and women. A wardrobe inspired by architecture, the city and pop culture, without borders. The collections are hand-made in Paris and Brussels.

How would you describe your new Spring/Summer 2022 collection?

Our collection was designed and inspired by the world of the swimming pool: the American pool houses of the 60s/70s as seen in the work of photographer Slim Aarons, the excitement of public pools such as the Ellis Park pool in Johannesburg, swimming clubs and their coaches. We wanted to offer a collection that mixed loose fitting pieces made from responsible fabrics. Recycled polyesters, eco-friendly textile printing processes, natural and organic materials, but also upcycled fabrics sourced in France.

Which look or piece best reflects the spirit of the season?

The look composed of a hooded long shirt in white organic cotton, shorts with slits (one on each side), and the navy blue fitted jacket in recycled polyester. The jacket features the embroidery of a water park. The latter was embroidered in Rwanda by the Ibaba embroidery workshop. This 100% women’s workshop helps to develop the autonomy of women in the region, and to protect their know-how.

Did you want to convey a message with this collection?

We always try to convey a positive message through the exploration we undertake each season to find responsible solutions. Each collection is a panel of solutions from many European countries: France, but also the Netherlands, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Italy. Europe offers a multitude of solutions for creation, and very beautiful projects in the field of textiles are born each season.

What word defines the future of fashion for you?

Consciousness.

Consciousness in the way we consume, create, shape.

Being conscious for the consumer, for the garment maker.

This global consciousness is a wonderful engine for creation and its evolution.
